Leak Testing
Data Metalcraft pairs industry-leading welding capabilities with innovative weld testing and inspection for pressure vessels, tube manifolds, and vapor-tight parts.
Leak Test Types
Pressure Test
Vessels and tanks are plugged and pressurized to specification, then submerged in a water mixture that locates leaks without rust or surface damage. Leak test submersion equipment can support tanks up to 14' long.
Penetrant Test
Welds required to be leak- or vapor-tight are coated with a special testing liquid to verify full weld penetration.

Reducing weld leaks and cracks with Laser Welding
Laser welding significantly reduces the risk of leaks both at initial inspection and once in use due to the superior quality of the weld it produces. The process generates welds with more than double the tensile strength of conventional methods, creating a stronger and more durable joint. In addition, the highly controlled, concentrated heat input minimizes porosity and eliminates air bubbles within the weld, reducing potential leak paths and improving long-term reliability in the field.
